AZC Maastricht

At Shekinah Foundation, we believe that every person deserves dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging, especially those who have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety and a new beginning. Our AZC (Asielzoekerscentrum / Asylum Seekers Center) Project was created to support asylum seekers and refugee families during one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives.

Through this project, we aim to provide practical help, emotional support, and community connection to individuals and families living in asylum seeker centers. Many residents arrive with experiences of uncertainty, trauma, and isolation. Shekinah Foundation seeks to become a source of encouragement by offering compassion, friendship, prayers, and meaningful assistance.

Our volunteers regularly organize outreach visits, distribution drives, and community activities within and around AZC locations. We provide essential items such as clothing, food packages, hygiene products, school materials, and seasonal necessities for children and adults. In addition, we create opportunities for social interaction through workshops, family events, language support, and cultural activities that help residents feel seen, valued, and connected.

Children and young people are a special focus of the project. We believe every child deserves moments of joy, creativity, and hope, regardless of their circumstances. Through educational support, recreational activities, and mentorship, we strive to create safe, uplifting experiences for their development and well-being.

The AZC Project is built on the values of humanity, respect, inclusion, and compassion. We work alongside local communities, partners, and volunteers to create understanding and unity between asylum seekers and society. Our mission is not only to meet immediate needs but also to restore confidence, dignity, and hope for the future.

At Shekinah Foundation, we understand that small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference. Together, we can create an environment where every person feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to move forward with hope.

If you would like to support the AZC Project through volunteering, donations, or partnerships, we warmly invite you to connect with us and become part of this mission of compassion and impact.
